The Crown Jewels Diamond Award

The Crown Jewels Diamond Award is a VERY special award reserved only for children who have made a difference in the world through their own efforts.

The child must have participated in the idea AND the implementation of the idea.  A parent or another person can help, but the child must be clearly involved throughout the process.  The end result of what the child did must have made a positive change in the world.

This is not an award that you apply for.  You may bring our attention to someone deserving of this award, but this is not a contest.  There may be more than one Diamond Award winner per year, or there may be none.  If you know someone deserving of this award, please email us at cara@crownjewelspageants.com and explain in detail.

In 2010, we had two Diamond Award Winners.

Emily Lites, 2010 Diamond Award Winner
Emily Lites  Emily's Smile Boxes

Emily Lites founded the non profit organization Emily's Smile Boxes after her baby brother Jude suffered a massive stroke. Emily spent many days with him in the hospital and found the setting to be boring and sad. Therefore, she decided to fill 12*12 boxes full of coloring books, crayons, card games, puzzles, and more. She began dropping these off by the dozen at local children's hospitals. Emily now drops off 200-400 boxes at a time. She holds local Smile Box making parties to teach other kids about the benefits of community service. To date she has dropped off more then 2700 boxes and raised more than $25,000 for her cause. Emily wants to thank Cara for giving her a shot at competing in a pageant again. She was so honored to take home the Diamond Service award, and the 9/up beauty supreme. Emily says, "thanks for making my dreams come true Mrs. Cara!"

Amanda Minsky, 2010 Diamond Award Winner

Amanda Minsky Forever Angels
Amanda Minsky came up with the idea of Forever Angels pageant when she met her friend Sarah who was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome at the age of 2.
Rett Syndrome is a devastating childhood neurological disorder with no cure and is the leading genetic cause of severe impairment in females. It strikes at random and deprives little girls of speech, normal movements, and hand use, bends their spines and weakens their bones. It brings seizures, breathing and swallowing difficulties, blood pressure and heart rate instability. It leaves its victims profoundly disabled and dependent on others for every basic need.

I'm proud to say in the past 4 years we have been able to raise over $14,700.00 for the International Rett Syndrome Foundation. With your help researchers are one step closer in finding a cure.
Thank you Cara for choosing Amanda for your Diamond award. She was honored to have this title and be able to tell everyone about the devastating effects of RETT Syndrome. Amanda also was crowned 12-up Novice Grand Supreme. Thank you Cara for your continued support of Forever Angels Pageant.

PRESIDENTIAL SERVICE AWARDS

Presidential Service Awards  letter from Obama pin

We are an official certifying organization for the President's Volunteer Service Award.  Our Record of Service Key is GTF-34806.

If you would like for your child to receive the President's Volunteer Service Award at Crown Jewels, you must use that number to record your child's number of hours at the official website at http://www.presidentialserviceawards.gov/  Note:  Crown Jewels will NOT keep up with or enter your child's hours.  You must do this part yourself.  We are happy to order, pay for, and present your child with the awards for their community service at no charge to you.

Our cutoff for ordering is December 1st.  Please notify us by email at cara@crownjewelspageants.com by Dec. 1st if your child has qualified for an award under the Presidential Service Awards program.

There is apparently a new provision that kids must be 5+ to receive the Presidential Awards.  Young adults are classified as 15-25.  Adults are 26+.  If you have a child that is younger than 5 that you have been participating in Community Service with, I suggest you turn in your hours as a Family.
